Our Story
Some people leave footprints upon the earth. Others leave footprints upon the hearts of those who knew them.
Savannah Lively was one of those people.
She lived boldly, loved deeply, and possessed an adventurous spirit that could never be confined to a single interest or pursuit. Her sense of style was uniquely her own, her curiosity seemed endless, and her heart was always drawn toward those who needed kindness, encouragement, or simply someone willing to stand beside them.
She had a remarkable gift for noticing beauty.
Whether through the lens of her camera, while exploring a quiet trail, or in the smallest details that others might easily overlook, Savannah had an extraordinary ability to recognize the beauty that surrounded her every day.
Like many young people, however, she struggled to recognize that same beauty within herself.
That truth has become the quiet foundation upon which this organization was built.
The Savannah Lively Butterfly Legacy Foundation was established not only to honor Savannah's life, but to continue the values by which she lived. Through educational scholarships, community outreach, the arts, and service to our community, we strive to create opportunities that inspire hope, encourage compassion, and remind people that every life has purpose.
Our Foundation supports educational scholarships, serves homeless veterans, advocates for the welfare of stray and abandoned animals, encourages artistic expression through our Annual Juried Photography Exhibition, and brings our community together through events such as Savannah's Spirit 5K. Although these programs may appear different, they are all expressions of one simple mission.

Those four words are more than our tagline. They are our promise.
We believe that beauty is not limited to breathtaking landscapes or works of art. Beauty is found in acts of kindness, in compassion freely given, in neighbors helping neighbors, in second chances, and in people who choose to make their communities better than they found them.
When we learn to recognize beauty in the world around us, we begin to discover hope. Hope inspires generosity. Generosity strengthens communities. Strong communities change lives.
That is the legacy we hope to build.
Every scholarship awarded, every photograph displayed, every runner crossing a finish line, every volunteer serving alongside us, and every act of kindness performed in Savannah's memory becomes another chapter in a story that continues to grow.
Our hope is not simply that people remember Savannah.
Our hope is that because of her life, more people will discover beauty where they least expect it, find hope when they need it most, and choose to extend that hope to someone else.
That is how a legacy lives on.
